PROJECT
Brand Identity
Print Materials
As owner and senior interior designer of Play House, Lindsey realized it was time for a brand refresh when she noticed all the collateral she had produced in the past didn’t have a cohesive look. We set to work on creating a suite of collateral with the simple message that she holds her aesthetic and services to a high standard.
RESEARCH
Lindsey started by sending me photos of spaces she designed as well as aspirational photos that were unrelated to interior design. This allowed us the freedom to create a running list of moods, colors and shapes that could come together to form the basis of our design thinking.
After going back and forth with ideas, we narrowed our focus to creating a brand that felt breezy like California in the 70s/80s, was balanced in masculine strength & feminine serenity, and had a sense of depth and texture that emulated the objects and surfaces one encounters in a home.
PRIMARY LOGO
VISUAL ID
“Refined eclecticism” beautifully sums up the final color palette. Bold earth tones are paired with unctuous jewel tones to command attention and claim their space.
Attention-grabbing and a work of art in itself, a fat face (with elegant features) font was chosen for the logo to pay homage to a popular graphic design style of the early 70s. A thin sans serif was chosen for body copy to convey a modern, breezy sensibility.
From concrete and terrazzo to carpet and caning patterns and textures were pulled from everyday objects and surfaces people encounter in a home.
